My art is a philosophy. It is the art of beauty found in Australian Nature, and I make art for people who like to be comfortable, art that doesn’t shout for attention - just like our natural world.
Art is a compulsion that can’t be denied. it's a gift, a calling.
My volunteer conservation advocacy works well with my art. I call my paintings experiential and knowledge-based, not just in what I paint, but how it gathers. My work belongs in this time, yesterday, today and tomorrow, in this particular context of our world history. Its style is traditional but its context contemporary.
After all these years I find myself still seeking the mystery of Life, Nature and our Place on Earth. I seek the beauty, the indescribable, the ineffable. This is what I do as an artist.
"On another note, Emeritus Dean Stewart MacPherson places Sue’s art in the company of Henry David Thoreau and the "showings" (or revelations) of Julian of Norwich, and that Sue’s art "captures the essence of the glory of nature … its mystery and meaning, beauty and truth. To see, to truly see, the infinite in the “ordinary” is a great gift. Artists like Sue bless us by sharing that gift with us."
Sue has 24 solo exhibitions to her credit. She enjoyed continued success in 2018 exhibiting with the relatively new Collie Art Gallery.
She is seeking a new gallery.
