WORKSHOPS in 2020

Calligraphy - Scripting by Hand
Mondays 6th & 13th January.  Calligraphy is to writing what poetry is to books, and flute is to music.  Do You enjoy the act of writing?  Learn the ancient terminology of calligraphy.  Play with letters, upper and lower case, ideas and design. 
Write a word and decorate it with flourish.
MATERIALS.  
Pen. Felt-tipped. Nib size 1; Calligraphy pen with chiselled end; felt-tipped, nib size 2 or 3 preferred; 2 B pencils; soft pencil eraser; pencil sharpener. ruler, something to lean on that is slightly larger. I will provide A4 paper for lay-out and practice

Finding the World in a Leaf
Thurs 9 &16th January.

Using nature finds as our models, we follow traditional drawing disciplines to create life-like realism, enjoying close Nature observation along the way.  The emphasis is on contemplation
MATERIALS.  Mi-Teintes pastel Papers or regular cartridge papers - A4 size, and a firm board to lean on; pastels, charcoal, conte or @N to 6B pencils; a soft pencil eraser, sharpener or bland, and your seeing eyes.

What Colours do you See?
Saturday 18th January.   The world is drenched in colour but how often do we pay attention?  
Record the palette that characterizes the world around us.  Mixing and knowing the colours you have. 
Meditating, mesmerizing and great fun.
MATERIALS.  Ruler, 2B pencil, eraser.  A3 cartridge paper or watercolour paper.   Student’s own collection of materials they wish to work with:  a) Watercolour, brush with generous bristles and another with fine point.  Inexpensive, student quality watercolour paper. Small water jars; paper towels or cotton to mop up excess water; OR b) Coloured pencils and cartridge paper, or c) Pastels.

Adventures in Waterolour
Sue will be teaching a watercolour workshop in early 2020. 
WHAT WILL HAPPEN?  
You’ll enjoy learning a lot about watercolour painting.  
You will learn Sue’s time-tested way of stretching naughty watercolour paper effectively.   
You’ll enjoy the mysteries, joys and tears of watercolours and
take home an artwork you’ll be happy with and ideas for future adventures.
