WORKSHOPS
2021 Bunbury Summer School
"Finding Feathers and Fur". Pet portraiture, looking beyond the photograph for the expressive quality, the essence, the movement that gives life-likeness to animal portraiture, from an all-round perspective.
"Discovering Birds". A pleasant wander along Leschenault Inlet to find some feathered creatures with which we share our world, with artist, nature lover and bird specialist Sue Kalab. Be prepared to have your sense of wonder ignited. 70+ species of birds identified here in recent years.
2020 Bunbury Summer School
"Calligraphy - Scripting by Hand" Calligraphy is to writing what poetry is to books, and flute is to music. Do You enjoy the act of writing? Learn the ancient terminology of calligraphy. Play with letters, upper and lower case, ideas and design. Write a word and decorate it with flourish.
"Finding the world in a leaf" Using nature finds as our models, we follow traditional drawing disciplines to create life-like realism, enjoying close Nature observation along the way. The emphasis is on contemplation
"What Colours do you See?" The world is drenched in colour but how often do we pay attention? Record the palette that characterizes the world around us, mixing and knowing the colours you have. Meditating, mesmerizing, surprisingly good fun.
"Adventures in Waterolour" April. What will happen? You’ll enjoy learning a lot about watercolour painting. Sue’s time-tested way of stretching naughty watercolour paper effectively. The mysteries, joys and tears of watercolours, taking home an artwork and ideas for future adventures.
